Sinner's Prayer Commentary
Lately, I have heard critics on the sinners' prayer stating it does not save. My thoughts. I differ from that. Just because something is not directly precisely mentioned in the scriptures, does not mean it does not work. I remember when I was age 5, I was led to the LORD from the sinner's prayer.
The following is the sinner's prayer quoted from Google
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior."
My personal blogs version to enhance it.
Heavenly Father. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die on the Cross of Calvary for my sins. Thank you for shedding your blood for me. I believe you were crucified, you were buried, and I believe God raised you from the dead three days later. I believe in the LORD Jesus Christ. In Jesus name. I pray. Amen.
If one truly needs Biblical evidence to back up the sinner's prayer the following should.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Matthew `2:34
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Romans 10:13
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
